TF01 3,Fan Club Guide - Part 1 4, STAR TREK FAN CLUBS - PART 1 --------- Compiled by Simon Plumbe Back again for the eighth instalment of our fan club guide. It has now gotten to the stage that this guide has now had to be broken down into two halves, just to make it readable!! I know regular readers will have heard (well, seen anyway!) all of this before, for you new readers out there, this is a regular series listing contact names and addresses for Trek fan clubs all over the world! The idea behind the article is that we know how hard it can be at times finding out about clubs in your local area, or even just within your own country, so we're trying to create the most fully-comprehensive guide ever attempted! Well, we've expanded the guide yet again, with a healthy sprinkling of new clubs that we've discovered, along with a few amendments to the information we already had including 6 address changed, and 38 new entries! So we've now updated the guide to include addresses for a mammoth 206 clubs, covering 15 countries!! Countries we currently feature in this guide include (in A-Z order): AUSTRALIA, AUSTRIA, BRAZIL, CANADA, ENGLAND, FRANCE, GERMANY, IRELAND ITALY, NORTHERN IRELAND, SCOTLAND, SPAIN, THE NETHERLANDS, U.S.A and WALES! Now come on you lot, even though there is only one listed in this guide, we know there must be more than one club in countries like France, Italy and so on, so if there are any overseas readers who know of any local clubs, PLEASE get in touch! Obviously, most of the clubs listed do accept overseas membership, so it's worth enquiring about it. The guide is separated into two halves - Trek and Actor-related clubs. Many of the actor related clubs don't just concentrate on their work in Trek so we felt it was unfair to class them as such. We haven't added fanzines yet, because no-one has asked us to, but if you want them listed, let us know! In connection with the above, you'll notice that in the Trek section, there is a Data and a Beverly Crusher fan club. We felt that it would be best to list these under Trek clubs as opposed to Actor clubs as they seem to be appreciation clubs for the CHARACTERS and NOT the actors in question. Also, to try and enhance the guide, we are in the middle of contacting ALL of the clubs listed, asking them if they want to send us additional details to include in the guide. So far, we have contacted 20 of the clubs featured - at least we can't be accused of not offering them the chance! As well as this, we are considering breaking the guide up to cover separate countries, making it easier for anyone to find about their "local" clubs. A friendly and informal group, we meet twice a month at a city centre venue, alternating video evenings, with talkie meets.
